Device: Food Processor
Ingredients
- 2 cups chickpeas soaked (or cooked)*
- 1 onion cut into 4 pieces
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- ½ cup finely chopped parsley
- ½ finely chopped fresh coriander (optional)
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp dried ground coriander
- Salt/pepper/cayenne pepper to taste
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ – ½ cup oats
- ½ cup sesame seeds (boiled and strained)
Instructions
Add the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, fresh coriander, cumin, dried coriander, salt and pepper to the food processor and mix until everything is well combined.
Put the mixture in a large bowl and add the oats and olive oil. Mix well by hand until the mixture combines. Add some more oats if it’s too soft.
Shape them into patties and deep them in sesame.
Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes or until they golden brown.
Enjoy with tahini or hummus and salad in a freshly homemade pita.
*Cooked chickpeas will give our falafel a more smooth texture while soaked will make them crunchier.
**if we prefer frying the falafel instead of baking then we should not put any oil in the mixture.
