Probably the restaurant with the most vegan options on its menu and all exceptionally presented!

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting The Forest restaurant in Pyla, and tried some of its amazing food! With more than 20 delicious vegan dishes available the question is what to choose first!

Besides the great variety of dishes, the amazing thing about this place is that everything is hand made on the premises. Not just the main dishes, but also the seitan, all the bread and even the sauces.

We tried a wide variety from the menu – we were a large group – and everything was amazing! Large portions, fulfilling, great attention to detail, excellent combinations of taste and texture. We are still dreaming about the gorgeous vegan ‘souvlaki’ in pitta bread with tofu tzatziki!

The owner and chef, has created authentic recipes and unique dishes! He is a world travelled chef and he incorporates tastes from all over the word in his dishes. From American cheese burgers, to Korean style mayo, Indian masala, Italian sandwiches, Greek souvlaki and sushi burrito! The Forest is conveniently located near the sea which is very easily combined with a day at the beach.

We tried the following dishes and all were amazing! I have to repeat that… everything from main dishes, to side dishes are prepared fresh at the restaurant!

The ‘Vegan Crunchy Birdless Burger’, is a crunchy fried “chicken” seitan in burger bun, served with Korean sauce and topped with spicy vegan mayo!

The ‘Vegan Katsumoto’ Crispy seitan beef-style, is topped with vegan spicy mayo on a vegan bun!

The ‘Vegan Stax Burger’ is their delicious wheat and pea patty, with vegan cheese topped with a layer of pulled jackfruit, onion jam and lettuce on a vegan bun!

The ‘Vegan Dirty Cheese’ is a classic cheeseburger with their exclusive wheat and pea protein patty, vegan cheese, lettuce, special sauce and onion jam on a vegan homemade bun. One of my favourite dishes on the menu with an exceptional patty!

The ‘Vegan Rock & Rolla is a great combination of their pea and wheat cheeseburger and a crunchy birdless fried cutlet, served with a Korean Seoul mayo on a vegan homemade bun!

A dish no one can resist is the ‘Birdless Wings’! ‘Birdless Spicy Wings’ a 10 pieces dish of their famous birdless wings dipped in a spicy sauce or ‘Birdless Sweet Wings’ 10 pieces dipped in sweet sauce!

Indian flavors next with ‘Vegan “Chicken” Masala Kebab’ the masala kebab served with freshly made naan bread, with their own masala spiced “chicken” seitan, with grilled veggies, topped with a raita sauce and salad!

Sushi lovers will love this! ‘Volcano Sushi Burrito’ which can be made vegan upon request! A seaweed and sushi rice wrap with crispy beef-style seitan, red pepper, spicy mayo, crispy fried onions, avocado, and handmade kimchi!

Another of my personal favorites is the ‘Ultimate Plant base Chickn Souvlaki with Tofu Tzaziki’! Probably the best souvlaki I have ever tried! 3 skewers of chickn served with fresh pitta bread and tofu tzatziki over a cucumber and tomato salad!

The ‘Seaspiracy’, is no cod soya fillets marinated in sea brine, served with homemade fries, seasonal salad, sea salt and a caper and herb dressing!

The ‘Vegan Italian Beef Sandwich’ is a sandwich with slices of seitan beef-style, topped with vegan Bangkok mustard and vegan cheese sauce and is served with sautéed peppers and onions on a seeded roll!

The ‘Moonchild Burger’ is a mix of 3 mushrooms ‘calamari’ marinated to give a taste of the sea with a caper and herb dressing!

And another fantastic dish is the ‘Vegan Calamari Tower’, a combination of quinoa, fresh mashed avocado, red cabbage, tomato and their exclusive crispy mushroom ‘calamari’. Refreshing, fulfilling, great combination of flavours!

We also tried the ‘Detox Vegan Bowl’ with grilled seasonal veggies and courgette, cooked beetroot, salad mix, sesame seeds, edamame beans and pickled red ginger, served with sushi rice!

Recently added to the menu are the ‘Vegan Donner Kebab’ a delicious vegan-beef donner in a pitta bread served with salad and fries and the ‘Vegan Prawn Po’boy’ with soya marinated ‘vegan prawns’ which have been battered and served in a wholemeal baguette with their own seafood sauce with a choice of fresh seasonal salad or fries! Finally, we highly recommend their fried ‘Courgette Rings’ and hand cut fries!

All ingredients they are using are excellent quality and this shows! There is a dish for every taste! The only problem is what to choose and what to leave for the next time!
